Hotshot pilot Nax Hall has a history of making poor life choices. So it’s not exactly a surprise when he’s kicked out of the elite Ellis Station Academy in less than twenty-four hours.

But Nax’s one-way trip back to Earth is cut short when a terrorist group attacks the Academy. Nax and three other washouts escape—barely—but they’re also the sole witnesses to the biggest crime in the history of space colonization. And the perfect scapegoats.

On the run and framed for atrocities they didn’t commit, Nax and his fellow failures execute a dangerous heist to spread the truth about what happened at the Academy.

They may not be “Academy material,” and they may not get along, but they’re the only ones left to step up and fight.

I got your attention now, don’t I? It sounds very interesting and I have to say the cover is beautifully simplistic. I love that quote on top. Also…look at the color! This is a book that will for sure stick out on a shelf.

So, we know about the book…how about we learn a little about the author?

About the Author

M.K. England is an author and YA librarian living who grew up on the Space Coast of Florida and now calls the mountains of Virginia home. When she’s not writing or librarianing, MK can be found drowning in fandom, going to conventions, rolling dice at the gaming table, climbing on things in the woods, or feeding her video game addiction. She loves Star Wars with a desperate, heedless passion. It’s best if you never speak of Sherlock Holmes in her presence. You’ll regret it.

Her debut YA space opera, THE DISASTERS, will be out on 12/18/18 from HarperTeen. For the latest DISASTERS news, you can subscribe to the Eccentric Orbit monthly newsletter at biy.ly/MKEnews. Guest Post

I was lucky enough to have M.K. England write a guest post for my tour stop. I’ve asked her to make a playlist for her novel. So…here you have it!

I won’t claim to be super in-the-know about pop music, as I spent a significant portion of my teens and 20s immersed in classical clarinet and weird experimental electronic stuff. I have two degrees in music and apparently the result was me missing out on a good ten years or so of pop. I do have pretty eclectic taste, though, so I think there’s something for just about everyone on this playlist for THE DISASTERS. Some songs are familiar, and some are likely new to you.

I’d especially like to call out the two songs at the end by All the Best Kids. They’re a local Washington, D.C. band and, full disclosure, I’m friends with their singer, but I think the band’s overall sound and ethos is so fitting for THE DISASTERS. They’re dedicated to radical love, acceptance, and positivity, and that absolutely jives with me. They’re the perfect songs to capture the feel at the end of the book.

Hope you enjoy this playlist!

I love some of these songs on here! I think that M.K. England did a wonderful job. What do you all think? Give it a listen and let me know below. Are you looking forward to reading this book?
