Goodreads Monday

Goodreads Monday

Hello again everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was very productive and I am so proud. I completed a basic outline for my story I am writing during NaNoWriMo and even created some smaller subplots. I know what my epilogue is going to be as well! I am so excited! Have you ever dreamed of writing a novel? Would you think of participating in NaNoWriMo? Is my journey through NaNoWriMo something you would be interested in hearing about? Let me know!

Well, it is Monday and I know why you are all really here…Goodreads Monday! So…less about parent life and more about books! This weekly event is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners. To take part, simply choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR (To Be Read) list and show it off.

Now onto the good part, yet another book from my Goodreads to read shelf…which is always growing larger with each Goodreads Monday post that I read. I am serious, every Monday my TBR list grows by about 5 books. Why are there so many great books and so little reading time?

“This is a bad place. I don’t think people are meant to live here.”

Longtime residents of Harper’s Cove believe that something is wrong with the Widow’s Point Lighthouse. Some say it’s cursed. Others claim it’s haunted.

Originally built in 1838, three workers were killed during the lighthouse’s construction, including one who mysteriously plunged to his death from the catwalk. That tragic accident was never explained, and it was just the beginning of the terror. In the decades that followed, nearly two dozen additional deaths occurred in or around the lighthouse including cold-blooded murder, suicide, unexplained accidents and disappearances, the slaughter of an entire family, and the inexplicable death of a Hollywood starlet who was filming a movie on the grounds.

The lighthouse was finally shuttered tight in 1988 and a security fence was erected around the property. No one has been inside since.

Until tonight.

Thomas Livingston is the acclaimed author of thirteen books about the supernatural and this evening he will enter the Widow’s Point Lighthouse, searching for material for his next bestseller. He will be locked inside for the weekend with no way of contacting the outside world. And although no human has stepped foot inside the structure in nearly three decades, Livingston will not be alone.

In this remarkable collaboration, father and son writing team, Richard and Billy Chizmar, combine forces to tell a chilling ghost story that will make you think twice about what is waiting for you in the dark. This novella is a much-expanded version of the short story of the same title.

I chose this because…hello, it is October, bring on the spooky reads! I want to read this novel so badly. I really like how an author is the main character, searching for ideas for his next best seller. This reminds me a little of Misery…well only that the main character was an author writing his book when terrible things happened…but still.

Did you know Richard Chizmar and Stephen King are actually good friends in real life? How cool is that? I love Stephen King’s novels, one day I vow I will own them all!

Is this a book that you might enjoy if you have not read it? Have you heard of this novel before now? If you have read it feel free to link your review below, I would love to see what you thought. Do you enjoy spooky reads all year round or only in October…or none at all? What are some books on your Goodreads to-read list? Do you find yourself adding many more to your TBR list on Goodreads Monday?
