Today I am bringing you a review of the second book in a series I an grateful to have discovered…thanks to TheWriteReads. I knew I had to read this because I truly loved the first book.

Can we take a minute to admire the amazing cover of this book?!?! Like the first one, it pulled me in right away.
This story picks up merely days from where the last book left readers. This time, Grey has found himself in the court of a powerful fae…Feena. She spends days, weeks, or in some cases years slowly draining the life from her captives to feed her own magic. He fights back but there is only so much he can do… Now Rune and the others have to plan to rescue him…that is where the adventure begins. My favorite part of this entire novel was the influx of new fantasy creatures. The vivid worldbuilding makes it seem as if you are experiencing everything with your own eyes.
The twisted, dark plot keeps your attention and seamlessly begs you to turn the pages. At some points in the story, it did seem almost as if the Venators did not truly understand their abilities or the world around them. Knowing this had to do with the fae, I was hoping for more interactions with the council bit that didn’t happen. The book is fast-paced and filled with enticing fantasy creatures around every dark corner. I loved almost every aspect of this story and I think the above issue could be addressed with a little more background information.
I will say that I am beyond excited to see what comes next in this series. This is a wonderful series to jump into if you enjoy fantasy, mystical creatures, and adventure. Don’t hesitate! Grab your copy today!
