The Birthday Tag

The Birthday Tag

Today is a special day so I chose to do a tag to celebrate!

It’s nothing huge but it lets you all get to know me a little better.

When is your birthday?

Today is my birthday! December 26th.

How old are you turning? (Or if your birthday recently passed, how old did you turn?)
I am turning 29. I told my mom next year she and I are going out for my birthday and I’m calling it dirty 30!

What was your favorite present that you’ve ever received?

This is a tough one. I’ve gotten many good gifts over the years. I think it would have to be my laptop when I turned 16. I know it took a lot of trust for my dad to get me one. It was a used and very old one that was heavy but hey, better than nothing. I felt so grown up and like I might fit in at school just a little bit more. So many people had high tech cell phones and computers and I didn’t. I had a pre-paid phone at the time. I had an old desktop at home. Having one computer was always a hassle too. When my dad wanted to use it, my sister had homework or wanted to chat with someone online, and when I wanted to do research papers for school. It was so nice being able to work on homework whenever I wanted to. Granted, I had to use the wired internet or my dad’s Verizon USB internet device, but I was free to do homework when I wanted. I was also able to make mixed CDs for my friends.

Are you/did you have a party this year? if so what are you doing?

Nope. I typically stay home and spend the day with my kids. Though I am on the hunt for a really good all you can eat sushi place near me.

What is your most memorable birthday cake?

This is easy! When I turned 17 my dad bought me an orange M&M ice cream cake. It was shaped like the orange M&M. It wasn’t like I liked M&Ms but orange is my favorite color and he knew that. I remember the face on the cake and everything! It was the year my dad bought me my Katana…the one all his friends told him not to buy me.

How do you usually celebrate your birthday?

Since it is the day after Christmas, I head to Walmart to look for clearance holiday gift sets. Then once I’m home I spend the day with my kids and family. We have whatever meal I want and then eat cake. Nothing crazy exciting but it is intimate and I am surrounded by those who love me most.

What was the most memorable birthday you’ve

had?

My sixteenth birthday. My dad rented a room in the local YMCA and hired a DJ. I had a dance party and he even got my mom to come up from Florida for it. That was the best birthday I’ve ever had.

If you had an unlimited amount of money what would you do for your birthday?

I would travel maybe. Take a trip to Japan, South Korea, or another country I’d love to see. If I were being realistic though…I’d visit the book store and buy every book I wanted. Then head home and buy more online. After that, I’d buy a shed to use as a mini library and decorate it, complete with an espresso machine, comfy chair, and a sliding ladder. Oh and I’d build and furnish my dream witch house in the woods. The next day…I would relax and just read all day. I think I need more time in a day to do all that…

What’s your birthday wish list?

  • Books
  • Money for books
  • Witchy things
  • Money for witchy things

See…I’m trying to make it easy for everyone. If I were to get specific we’d be here all day.

If u only had one birthday left, what would u do for your birthday?

I’d be sure to spend it sharing memories with those I loved most. I’d have a small celebration with close friends and family, ending the day by staring at the beautiful moon as we all enjoyed the evening.

Do you have any birthday traditions?

I do! I mentioned above, I always go to Walmart to check the holiday clearance. I know it is lame but as an adult, I’ve learned to search for deals. I usually always buy myself a book too, online or in the store.

What’s your favorite part of your birthday?

I like my birthday to be celebrated on its own. Too many times it gets combined with Christmas and I hate that. I love it when people take the time to remember that it should be its own day. I know this makes me feel selfish but I always felt left out when my siblings had birthday parties etc and I had 2 in my entire life. I always got combined gifts…I just wanted one day about me, like everyone else.

What’s one thing that changed a lot since your last birthday

Me. I’ve grown so much that it is crazy. I’m not done yet, I’m still coming into my own person. I’m much stronger and more independent. I’m truly becoming the person I was always meant to be. I’m open and honest about being a pagan witch. I no longer try to please everyone. I am working on making choices that make me happy rather than ones I think others want me to make.

Have you ever been thrown a surprise party or have you ever thrown one for someone?

I’ve never had a surprise party. My sister and I threw one of sorts for my dad. My dad’s birthday was Christmas day. He didn’t know we had anything planned but once we opened gifts I made him his favorite breakfast. We sang him ‘Happy Birthday’ and gave him his gifts. His girlfriend came over and we made his favorite dinner and had cake. My sister and I even made paper decorations and hung them around the house. He had no idea we’d planned it.

Well, there you have it. Now you know a little more about me and my birthday experiences. When is your birthday? Will you do this tag for it?
