How is everyone doing?! Did you have a good weekend? I was super busy with the crystal business but I have good news…we are now a self-sustaining company!! Our business is actually doing so well that we are hoping to open a physical store next year. I’m currently working on building a website but you don’t want to hear about my crystal company, you are all here to hear about books…right?
I’m sure you can tell by the title of this post that I am a part of yet another blog tour hosted by Fantastic Flying Book Club! I have to thank them again because they are the most amazing tour group I’ve worked with. They also don’t charge authors for tours which are, let’s be honest, amazing!! I am so comfortable working with them and I think I will forever remain on the review team.
So…the book I am talking about today is one that I have been reading the follow-up series to for YEARS! I started reading the House of Night Books before I even had my first son. I bonded with the characters and I absolutely loved the storyline. I’d always finish the new book in less than a day. So, as soon as I saw this blog tour pop up in my email I hopped on it! Let’s get to it, shall we?
Don’t forget to check out all the other great posts for the tour here.
There is also an Instagram tour going on so be sure to watch for that here.

In the present, Other Neferet may have left her House of Night, but she has far from given up her goal of immortality and world domination. As she operates in secret to gain access to Old Magick, the new High Priestess, Anastasia Langford, works toward peace and acceptance for the vampyres of the Other World. But just as Other Kevin’s broken heart will take time to heal, peace in that world will also take time and work—and not all of the Other World vampyres want peace. After all, why should they return to being shunned by humans, especially when they’ve had a taste of how it feels to be in power?
Meanwhile, Zoey is desperate to help rid the Other World of Neferet once and for all, and not knowing what’s going on over there is eating away at her. But, as the Nerd Herd warns, it’s far too dangerous to call on Old Magick time and again. As a distraction, she throws herself into her work and attempts to bring the humans and vampyres of Tulsa closer together with the first human-vampyre swim meet in history! It’s too bad that something always seems to go wrong whenever the stakes are high.
What happens when worlds clash and powers that should be left alone are awakened? Can Other Kevin and his world heal from the wounds Neferet continues to inflict? Can Old Magick ever truly be harnessed and used for good? Or will Darkness extinguish Light and leave our heroes broken, hopeless, and as forgotten as Kalona of the Silver Wings? Don’t miss this second to last volume in the House of Night Other World saga!
Let’s talk about how beautiful this cover is!! Neferet is pictured here, or I assume so by the dark tendrils around her. I love that she is looking over the water at a city, I take that as a metaphor for her looking into another world. There is also a very faint vine design along the top corner. The small details are what make covers the best and this one is very appealing. The contrasting colors and how the black tendrils move through the title…simply perfect!
About the Authors
Review
I enjoyed this book much more than the first two in the series. I think I might be outgrowing the series but I still really enjoyed it. Some of the themes did seem repetitive but I absolutely loved how the same characters character lived in an alternate world, so to speak. You really get to see how things might have ended up, had the story gone differently. The character interactions were amazing but I could just not stand Emily. She rubbed me the wrong way every time I read about her. It seemed as if she only wanted to further her own goals, she makes a great new villain but I just despise her. Don’t even get me started on Neferet…I’m ready for her to be gone…for good!
My favorite parts in the book were, of course, the ones with Zoey and the other Kevin. I really liked getting to know the other Kevin, what a treat. Being able to not only create but manage so many characters and backgrounds is a skill not everyone has but these two sure do. The story flows effortlessly and I truly want to give it five stars but something just didn’t click to push it to the last one. The first half of the book focuses mostly on Kevin and we don’t see Zoey or the Nerd herd much (I love them so much though). I missed that, but that is what comes with introducing a new character with such a large plot role. I think I just bonded with the nerd herd so much in previous books that I wanted more of them in this one.
As with the other novels and novellas in the series, the world-building is fantastic. I always feel as if I am standing right beside the characters, they pull me into the story rather than leaving me to watch on the sidelines. This series has gone on for such a long time that I think at some point it needs to end but not yet…I need closure! I need to also see Neferet die once and for all. Her are that white bull. Overall, It was engaging and another good installment in the series. I was happy I picked it up and I look forward to the next book.
