Goodreads Monday

Goodreads Monday

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I am trying to get more reading in here and there which is difficult when you not only have kids but run a business as well.

We will be carving pumpkins this week and my boys are very excited. Of course, my oldest wants the biggest one out of the entire batch. He wants to carve a scary one, typical for him. I’m not sure what my youngest wants to carve his as yet. I still have to think on mine as well…maybe a witch.  I also want to can make and can some pumpkin puree to make a large variety of things. Do you carve pumpkins? Are there any special Halloween or Samhain traditions you participate in every year?

Also…I have some exciting news. I am participating in NaNoWriMo again this year! Woohoo! Exciting right? Well, I’m going to be editing the novel I wrote last year since I have not really touched it since I finished the novel. I won’t lie, I am super excited. I have been meaning to make time to edit but between this blog, proofreading and editing for others, kids, chores, and my new crystal selling business…I have had a hard time making time to sit and edit. This book will be done and ready for an editor and proofreader come December.

Anyway…back to books…let me add another book to your TBR list. I think I will be doing a down the TBR hold soon because I have over 500 books on my to-read list on Goodreads. *covers face in embarrassment* I know I know…how does something like that happen?!?! Well, you see what happens is I add them for a giveaway or because someone recommends it and I forget about it. I want that list to actually be a list of books I truly want to read soo…I am clearing it out! Watch for some down the TBR hold posts coming soon.

Let’s add to yours though…huh? Here is today’s Goodread’s Monday post!

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?
Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. These eight windowless “tombs” are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood’s biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.

I pre-ordered this book at BookCon 2019 when I met Leigh Bardugo. I was so excited to meet her, she is truly an amazing person. I didn’t have a book for her to sign, so she signed my bookmark for me. Recently, this book showed up in the mail and I can not wait to make time to pick it up and dive into it. Doesn’t it sound captivating? A mystery homicide, secret societies…count me in for the adventure!

Have you read this or any other books by Leigh Bardugo? Which ones? Did you enjoy them? Feel free to post links to your reviews below. I would love to see what you thought about the books. Pssst…I’ll comment on any posts that you leave the link for below as well.
