Writing update

Welcome back to my writing updates!! I have some sad and exciting news for you all regarding my WIP. But first…how have you been? I have been busy which is good and bad. Good because the days go by quickly but bad because I need more time in the day for reading and other activities. I finally retook my 5-hour driving course. No, I don’t have a license, yes I am 28…driving scared me for the longest time. Long story short, my father screamed at me when he started teaching me so I would grip the wheel tight and cry as I drove. Even driving with my husband, my heart would race and my anxiety would be through the roof. I am a lot more comfortable with driving now, I drove almost all the way to my mom’s house for Christmas (about a 9-hour drive). So yes, I am finally going to get a license this year and then I can drive myself to the gym whenever I want, so long as someone is home to watch the boys.

Speaking of boys…if you follow me on Twitter you’ve seen my son’s Leprechaun trap he made for school. He designed it with a little help from me then we created it together. It was a lot of fun.

Essentially it has a trap door and the Leprechaun will climb up the ladder to get the gold and while reaching for it, fall into the trap. He wanted to add prison bars so that he could see his Leprechaun when he caught it. He is hoping when he goes back to school Tuesday (Monday is Superintendent Conference day) that he will have caught one. I guess we will see!

Anyway, back to my writing update. Let’s get the sad news over with first, shall we?

I have only written one paragraph since NaNoWriMo in November!!!! I know, I’m not doing well at this writing thing. To be fair…life has been crazy busy. I run my blog, am a full-time stay-at-home mom of two boys (one being potty trained), I recently joined a blogger magazine and am in the editing and publishing department (more about that another time), I freelance proofread and edit, and I am the Office Manager for my Father-in-law’s Trucking company. I also try to make time to read and craft, especially with the kids. Oh yea, I cook and clean as well…I just basically am a workaholic apparently. I like to stay busy. That being said, I have not worked on my novel.

Here is where the Good News comes in though so don’t fret.

I have decided to partake in Camp NaNo!! That’s right, I’ll be writing again in April. This time I set my word count goal low (I hit 52K in November) since I am also participating in the Magical Readathon. I am aiming for at least 10K words this month. That should be easy enough to hit and writing is writing…right?

Depending on how much I get done in April, I will also participate in the next Camp NaNo. My goal is to have my first draft finished before November of this year! I really should be writing every day but it gets difficult with my busy schedule. I guess if I really want this I should make more time to write..huh?

Well…there you have it. Now you all know that I will be working on The First Serien once again. Are any of you going to write during April Camp NaNo? I’d love to talk with others through the writing process. I actually met the most amazing writing buddy last year during NaNoWriMo. She really is amazing and I’m happy to know her.

I am excited to share more about my book with you all as I write. On that subject, how would you all like a glance at my prologue? LEt me know, that could always be a Writing Update post and I’d love the feedback. It was great giving you all this good news but it is time for this post to end. I will see you all again when I have more to tell you! Thank you for supporting me in my first writing endevour.

Ok so I am thinking of giving you a bonus of 2 books, of your choice, if you hit your goal in camp Nano and complete your readathon books. Those are lofty goals with everything else you do for our family that I believe you will have earned an extra treat! 🙂

I participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time this past year. When I saw this, I knew it would be the push I needed to finally get working on my novel again. Let me know if you sign up!
