Goodreads Monday

Goodreads Monday

Hello again everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. Did you get some great reading in? I wish I had more time to read, I know I will soon when my oldest begins school. My oldest son goes back September 5th. He will be starting scouts too! I think he will really enjoy it. Have any of you ever been in scouts? Did you enjoy it? I also bought my son a bookmark that has a timer on it. Have you ever heard of such a thing…? It is called “Mark-my-Time.” Now I can have it set for his 30minutes of reading and it will beep when he is done or it can count up and time how long it took him to read a certain amount. This is such a wonderful investment, and it has 3D sharks on it which my son loves (picture below). Here are a few like it I have found click the images to learn more. I think the owl one is adorable.

Well, it is Monday and I know why you are all really here…Goodreads Monday! So…less about parent life and more about books! This weekly event is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners. To take part, simply choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR (To Be Read) list and show it off.

Now onto the good part, yet another book from my Goodreads to read shelf…which is always growing larger with each Goodreads Monday post that I read. I am serious, every Monday my TBR list grows by about 5 books. Why are there so many great books and so little reading time?

The people of Uztar have long looked to the sky with hope and wonder. Nothing in their world is more revered than the birds of prey and no one more honored than the falconers who call them to their fists.

Brysen strives to be a great falconer–while his twin sister, Kylee, rejects her ancient gifts for the sport and wishes to be free of falconry. She’s nearly made it out, too, but a war is rolling toward their home in the Six Villages, and no bird or falconer will be safe.

Together the twins must journey into the treacherous mountains to trap the Ghost Eagle, the greatest of the Uztari birds and a solitary killer. Brysen goes for the boy he loves and the glory he’s long craved, and Kylee to atone for her past and to protect her brother’s future. But both are hunted by those who seek one thing: power.

This sounds interesting, I like the idea of training birds and props for gay representation here. I love seeing more diverse novels being published! This does not mean I value classical novels any less. I read a huge range of novels and enjoy most of them.

I am a sucker for a good fantasy novel and captivating covers. Black Wings Beating has an amazing cover. I simply love the darkness it presents among a light background. The shape of a wing shows the night sky while birds fly around…beautiful.

Is this a book that you might enjoy if you have not read it? Do you enjoy fantasy novels? How do you feel about the increasing diversity in novels? What are some books on your Goodreads to-read list? Do you find yourself adding many more to your TBR list on Goodreads Monday, I know I do.

Those bookmarks look absolutely adorable. I checked out the owl one but need to wait until my son is older lol!

I’m also a fan of more diverse novels. It’s so hard keeping my TBR pile from growing exponentially.

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog post! I tried clicking through to your site using the WordPress alert thing (like where it tells me when people reply to me), and it sent me to thebibliophagistsite.blog which was a broken link. I ended up here by using google. Just an FYI in case that’s how other people try to find you!

I have no idea where those settings are. 🙁

Now looking at this message it doesn’t give me a website to click at all, and your username isn’t even a link or anything!

I know that might sound insane lol! I can try taking a screenshot and email it to you if you’d like, if it doesn’t make sense.

I had that issue with a few people today. I click on their image and it takes me to search, not their website
