America’s population is slowly dying due to an epidemic, and Alexander, an ancient, immortal shaman, has medicine that can heal people. It has one small side effect—Alexander’s able to control the minds of anyone taking the drug, nicknamed “dust.”

Alexander plans to take over the country once dust is released to the general public, crushing anyone who stands in the way. He needs just a little bit more of a certain magical ingredient to make the medication work properly: fairy wings.

An intelligent, stunning fairy, Sabrina was also America’s sweetheart—until a video of a crime she was involved in surfaces, nearly destroying her. A year later, she’s finally ready to step back into the spotlight. Together with her bodyguard, Mira, a water spirit in human form, Sabrina’s prepared to start over.

Things are starting to look up until she meets Alexander in a club and goes from social outcast to tortured captive in the blink of an eye. Will she be able to escape the evil shaman and his mind-controlled slaves in time to save herself and everyone she cares about?

This cover is amazing! The bright colors catch your eye immediately. The detail added in this image to show Sabrina’s wings is beautiful. Sabrina looks vulnerable, her wings on display. A brilliant cover choice for such an amazing book. And let’s not forget the clever title. Using “Tail” in place of “tale” was genius! It really shows some of the story’s character.

The characters in this novel are so well developed. You will not find any character, detail dumps here. Every needed detail is given at the precise time. They each have such unique history, bringing their own twists to the tale. The characters drive the story. First, we find Sabrina. She is a fairy who has recently fallen from fame. She reminds me of Paris Hilton. She has issues and some readers find her annoying, but if you look at her past…it is clear why she behaves in the way she does. This is not your ordinary fairy though, Kevin brings a unique twist to her kind…as he does with all of his fantasy characters. She hides her wings in plain sight in the form of a beautifully colored, intricate back tattoo.

Cade, Sabrina’s ex, vampire boyfriend, is another interesting character. He is madly in love with Sabrina, but after returning to his clan, he has no idea what he has put her through. She only wakes him because she desperately needs his help. This brings us to Moselle, a mummy. I think she is my favorite twist on a mythical being that Kevin presents in this novel. She does not walk around wrapped in linens, but she is powerful and has a mysterious back story. Jackson, a mere human, is Moselle’s boyfriend. He began as a simple hockey player, with no idea what dating Moselle would bring.

One Smoking Hot Fairy Tail builds a beautiful modern world. He does slip in some history though. Kevin has done immense amounts of research to ensure he uses Egyptian mythology and facts accurately. I appreciate this in a novel. Using true facts, make the tale just a little more plausible. Don’t let this fool you though, there is no boring storyline here…this book is packed with action. I read this with ease, always needing to turn the next page and continue. It is a unique story that pulls you in and refuses to release its grip.

I will mention there are intimate scenes and swearing throughout this novel. It is not suitable for younger audiences.

In the end, I loved this book! It brought a new image to well-known creatures and took me on an action-packed adventure! I finished this book quickly, not wanting to put it down. Emotions are taken through peaks and valleys. I felt love, loss, fear, anger, a myriad of other emotions while reading this. Do not hesitate to pick this book up. It is a wonderful read.
