Witchy Wednesday

Witchy Wednesday

Hello everyone and welcome to the first ever Witchy Wednesday here on my blog. If you follow me then you know I’ve begun my journey down my pagan witch path. Since it is a part of who I am, why not share it? Witchy Wednesdays will not be every week but they will be fun! This will be where you can find reviews for pagan or witchy books I’ve read, tarot decks I’ve reviewed, things I learn, etc. If you don’t agree with any of this, please be kind and just don’t read them. I respect your beliefs so please respect mine.

Now, onto our very first post. A few weeks ago I took a leap of faith and emailed Llewellyn Publishing. I figured since book bloggers email publishers to ask for books to review, why not add my desire to learn more about my path? I asked if they could send a copy of their little book of Tarot. I had seen this when researching and really liked the reviews that I’d read. I wasn’t sure how this would turn out, I mean…how often do witchcraft book publishers get contacted? I was not sure but took the chance and am so glad I did. Soon after talking with a wonderful Publicity Assistant who went above and beyond. She saw that I primarily reviewed fiction novels but still took a chance and sent me the book. Not only did she send a book, but she also sent me their amazing classic tarot deck as well!

I can not thank them enough. So, the honor of the first witchy post topic is theirs. Today I will review the tarot book and deck so don’t go away just yet!

Discover fun and easy ways to use the tarot cards with this hardcover, full-color guide. Llewellyn’s Little Book of Tarot is an ideal introduction to using the 78 cards to enhance your life and build a successful divination practice. You’ll find an impressive collection of activities, tips, and prompts that allow you to go at your own pace and explore what reading style works best.
Tarot expert Barbara Moore provides a thorough interpretation of each card, explaining the most important elements of it. She also presents sample cards from a variety of decks, helping you understand how tarot symbols and imagery appear in different artists’ work. You’ll even delve into divination techniques outside the cards, such as bibliomancy, meditation, and more.

First of all, the material the book cover is made of is so nice. I love that it has texture to it, I’m a very hands-on person. That might be why I love matte finished books so much as well. The gold touches to the cover make it stand out and shine int he beautiful sunlight. This book is so much more than a “how-to.”

This novel begins by talking about the history of tarot and moves into tips. I loved reading about the Fool’s journey. The best part is, of course, the cards. This book gives a description of each card in the typical tarot deck. What is even better is at the bottom of each page, they give an ‘instant answer’ to what the card means or is asking. This is fantastic for those trying to learn quick or who need a straight forward answer.

My love for this book does not stop there though! Each card described comes accompanied by a picture of the card. The catch…? Each card is from a different deck! The name of the deck is listed below the image. This is such a great concept. It allows the reader to get a look at a large variety of tarot decks and choose a few that call to them to research. What a great idea! The cards are also organized by suit. Major arcana first, then the minor arcana as follow; wands, cups, swords, pentacles. The minor arcana even have a page that tells the reader what that specific suit stands for.

I can’t help but reach for this every time I draw my daily cards. It is easy to read and so beautifully written. The perfect book for any beginner looking to learn tarot.

I recently went to a psychic fest and loved it. I picked up the Tarot of Dreams and really love my deck! It is SO pretty and the book that came with it was really helpful for a beginner like me. I have so much to learn about reading cards, but am glad to see that you’re into this. Your deck is so beautiful! I think this deck looks great for a beginner as well!

It truly is so easy to read but I don’t feel any of the beauty was sacrificed either. I am in love with it. I hope that you continue to grow with your deck as well as I do with mine. I hope to bring more witchy reviews to you. I’ll have to look up the Tarot of Dreams now too. I am telling you…this is an addiction. Now I want to buy so many pretty decks.
