Welcome back to Would You Rather Wednesday! I am not sure this is an actual thing yet, but I am going to make it one…because I can. First I want to mention that I got the idea from Krystyna (Turning the Pages) and her weekly bookish meme challenge. I took part in her post last week, but Wednesdays work better for my blogging schedule, so I created my own weekly challenge meme. I hope that you all enjoy it!
Would you rather (7):
Have an annotated book or one in pristine condition?
I thought I knew the answer to this right away, but having thought more about it…I am not sure. I do prefer my novels in like-new condition…I might have some OCD. I do not like bent covers or pages, dog-eared pages, etc. I am one who never writes in books…even textbooks. So having a book that is written in might bother me.
I did find an exception to this though. If the book was annotated by the author I might be able to handle it. Those notes would allow me to really get to know what the author was thinking while writing a certain scene, give me some insider information. I guess in the end, I would prefer a book in pristine condition…with the exception of having an annotated copy from the author.
What do you think…which would you choose? Do you annotate your books? I have heard some like to reread their thoughts from the previous time they read that book.
Depends on the book! I annotate a lot of my books and love going back to re-read my thoughts unless it is a signed or special edition.
