Would you rather Wednesday

Would you rather Wednesday

I am glad that you all enjoyed the first installment of my new series last week. I love that this promotes conversation and engagement. I know today’s sure will!

Welcome to my newest addition to my blog. I am not sure this is an actual thing yet, but I am going to make it one…because I can. First I want to mention that I got the idea from Krystyna (Turning the Pages) and her weekly bookish meme challenge. I took part in her post last week, but Wednesdays work better for my blogging schedule, so I created my own weekly challenge meme. I hope that you all enjoy it!

Would you rather (2):

Have a friend who always dog-ears your books or loses your books

Oh my! I sure picked a tough one. For me, I suppose that I would prefer having a friend who dog-eared my precious books. If you know me, you know how much I despise any damage to my books, including bending those poor, delicate pages. With that being said, I would much rather have my damaged books back on my shelves rather than never seeing them again. I would be upset with the friend who damaged my book but losing it all together…now, that is grounds for friendship divorce depending on the book and frequency of these disappearances.

I have actually lost a friend in middle school because I allowed her to borrow a book of mine and she returned it with dog-eared pages. When I got upset she said, “It is only a book, who cares if the changes are bent!” I stood in shock for a few moments, trying to be sure I actually heard those words come from her mouth. She must have thought I was crazy for caring so much about books but she had no idea how much they had gotten me through in life. When I told her I would not allow her to borrow any books from me in the future she became really upset. In the end, we lost touch in the distant future but the drift in closeness began there. It was sad, but it really wasn’t just that she bent my pages…she had a blatant disregard for the property of others. That lack of respect was something I did not tolerate and still don’t.

What do you think? Do you dog-ear pages? How else do you keep your place while reading a novel? Have you ever had something like this happen to you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

As much as I would hate it I gave to choose the dog eared book option. I cant even fathom losing a book and never being able to visit its world! Just thinking about it is giving me anxiety lol.

Dog ears all the way! I don’t really mind dog-ears unless it is a collectible edition of a book that I am not reading (let alone loaning out), but losing my book is way bigger of a sin

I agree that losing a book is a huge sin!
