Witchy Wednesday

Witchy Wednesday

Happy mid-week everyone! Welcome back to Witchy Wednesday, the day of the week where I openly talk about anything witchy. Well…I’ve started doing that on any day now but this is strictly a witchy post day. The first thing one does when they chose this path is research. We dive into anything and everything we can find about the subject. This is where a book such as the one I’m reviewing today comes in handy.

I recently made some oil for Ostara, the upcoming Sabbat. I’ll be putting the oil into bottles to sell alongside a crystal set of the Sabbat as well. Just as life is a cycle, each year is as well. We call the cycle the Wheel of the Year. This book was actually about so much more than just the macro-view of the wheel.

How about a look?

Open a Road Map to the Future By Embracing the Cycles of Life and Time
Take your Pagan practice into exciting new territory through an exploration of circular time and the cycles of life that are woven into it. The Great Wheel incorporates meditations, rituals, and exercises that align you with the patterns of time expressed in the ancient Etruscan concept known as the saeculum, or great year. Connecting to the saeculum helps you prepare for and prevent tragedies, navigate life’s challenges, and change the world for the better.
Jo Graham first guides you through the Wheel of the Year and the Wheel of Life, including the eight phases in a person’s life span. Then she reveals how the Great Wheel has influenced past events and what that means for the future. Using these ideas together will help you live more fully, find peace, and uncover powerful ways to benefit both yourself and the generations to come.

I loved this book so much! It really gives you a new perspective on the wheel of the year. When you think about it, Jo is correct…you can apply the wheel to daily life! The Great Wheel explains an idea called saeculum. This is the idea that time is circular and we can see that the cycles of life are entwined in it. Different stages of our lives can be linked to different seasons of the wheel.

I enjoyed how the book begins by explaining this idea but doesn’t stop there. It gives examples of people’s stories that prove the author’s ideas. There are even a few small rituals listed with all the supplies you need and how to perform them. As a person with a sociology degree, I love being able to use certain aspects of my life to predict where I’ll end up or what might happen.

This is an eye-opening book and I intend to do more research on the subject. I hope to apply the wheel to my life and see if it can help guide me through my life phases. Use this book to delve into a new concept about how the wheel influenced things that happened in the past and how it can influence events that are yet to happen.

Thank you again to Llewellyn for sending me this amazing book!

Have you read a book recently that opened your practice up to a new idea or way of thinking? I’d love to hear about it!

The oil can be used for many things! Annointing candles, wearing, cleasing tools I’ll use for the altar for that sabbat, etc.
