Happy mid-week everyone! Welcome back to Witchy Wednesday, the day of the week where I openly talk about anything witchy. Well…I’ve started doing that on any day now but this is strictly a witchy post day. One of the most common things that come to mind when thinking witch is a crystal ball or tarot deck. I am learning to read tarot and today’s book is a very helpful one.
Let’s take a look at the book before I talk a little bit more.

Author Melissa Cynova noticed that clients often turn up for readings with extremely complicated problems. She developed the five readings in Tarot Elements as a program for hitting the reset button on life. Whether you’re reading for yourself or for others, this book can help you work with any tarot deck to clarify complex issues, unstick the stuck parts, and move forward to a better place.
The five elements are powerful factors in assessing which areas of life need the most attention. Tarot Elements shows you how to use the elemental structure that shapes tarot to focus on one aspect of a problem at a time and resolve the tangled issues that are holding you back. The earth reading is about home. Air is about mind, fire is about body, water is about heart, and the spirit reading is about your soul and your spiritual practice. With hands-on exercises, sample readings, and fascinating insights, this book invites you to pick up your cards and begin the process of transformation.
Tarot is something that has always fascinated me and I’ve finally started learning. One thinks reading tarot cards would be easy…think again! There are so many elements that go into basic readings. The first thing I have to say is there are some amazing tarot spread ideas nestled in the pages. The writing was done well but at times it just didn’t maintain my attention.
Tarot Elements brings a new idea forward that I’ve yet to hear about. Cynova talks about putting all of our energy into different levels of the elements. I mean…that would be why the title is Tarot Elements. Though I said the book didn’t hold my attention, she did warn readers that we should read each section and work on it little by little rather than reading the book front to back. I think if you read that way, the book becomes more enjoyable because, between your reading, you are practicing her tips and learning more and more. Though, at times, the chapters could be a little repetitive. The examples given for each section sometimes seemed to be too similar. I have tabbed some pages in my book to go back to, mainly the spreads that I’d like to try.
Remember, you can customize either of these spreads to more properly fit your needs. The layout is easy to read and the images are clear enough to read. This is a great book to start learning to use tarot to focus on certain problems in your life using the elements and a well-loved deck. It is a wonderful learning tool to add to your growing stack of witchy reference books.
Thank you again to Llewellyn for sending me this amazing book! I look forward to using some of these amazing spreads! I can’t wait to read more books from this publisher.
