Welcome back everyone, I do have to apologize for not really posting much of anything this past week. If you follow me or know me then you already know I had surgery Tuesday. It was nothing major, those ones had already been done. I was having the three screws removed from each of my hips. One screw in the left hip is broken so I will always have about an inch of that stainless steel screw in my hip bone. Most people who have a PAO don’t require the hardware to be removed by the screws in my hips were not impacted, meaning there were sticking above the surface. You could feel them through the skin. The ones in my left hip were rubbing against the skin and causing immense pain and irritation so they had to be removed. The doctor suggested we remove all six while we are there and I agreed that was a good idea.
It was a short procedure, about an hour long and then I was placed in the recovery room. It is so difficult waking from anesthesia and it makes me groggy for the rest of the day. I slept on an off the remaining part of the day. I was able to walk fine right after the surgery but I’m sore and have trouble going from sitting to standing quickly or bending in certain ways. I will heal but it will take time and me being patient. One thing I am not good at is relaxing and my husband knows because he’s threatened to duck tape me to the couch after I started recovering from a PAO and was trying to walk around and clean the house. I’m stubborn but know I have to heal and healing takes time and patience.
Aside from that, I will be posting a small writing update soon about how Camp NaNo is going so far. I set a really low bar becuase I have so much going on right now. I’ve fallen behind on my OWLs readings because life just got busy with my surgery and me sleeping the last few days away but I’m not giving up on it! The #READshadowhunter readathon is going well though! Be sure to watch my blog every monday for your newest Infernal Devices Book of the Month discussion posts.
Overall, life is busy but good. Life can get crazy and I tend to overwhelm myself with projects. That is one of my weaknesses…there are so many things I want to do or enjoy doing that I tend to stretch myself too thin at times. Maybe I’ll write a post about that someday and some self-care things I try to impliment.
Well, let’s get to another great Freebie Friday before you all get really bored.
Mistress of Masks (Catalysts of Chaos #1)
Author: C. Greenwood
Published: May 18th, 2014
Publisher: CreateSpace
An ancient evil has awakened in Earth Realm. The dead are rising, the oracles haven fallen silent, and foul creatures are devastating the baselands. When the dark sorcerer, Rathnakar, escapes his tomb, the First Mother chooses three champions to become the saviors of their time.
The hopeful adherent, Eydis, wants nothing more than to lead a life of solitary devotion within the sheltered walls of a seclusionary. But when her pilgrimage to a sacred grove ends in a vision of the end of the world, she realizes the Mother requires a more dangerous service from her. Seeking the catalysts prophecy says can overcome chaos, she aligns herself with a notorious traitor, Orrick of Kroad, and Geveral, a dryad mage who has yet to tame his powers. Together, can the three unlikely heroes thwart Rathnakar and the wave of darkness threatening to devour their world?
“An ancient evil,” that starts this story off on the right foot. Those are always sure to please. I think what draws me most to this book is the dark sorcerer escaping and the First Mother choosing not one but THREE champions to become saviors. From the reviews, I would say this book has great potential and I think I might just have to give it a try. What about you?
