Happy Monday everyone! Well, not everyone loves Mondays but I always look forward to this blog series. Mondays are one of the days where my TBR always grows. My unread books on my shelves staring at me angrily as I add more to my list. I might have a book addiction…is there a book addicts anonymous? If so, I should probably join. But hey, a book addiction is much better than an addiction to other things.
My weekend was pretty good. I have been thinking of some other good blog post ideas. If there is anything you would like to hear about, please let me know. I loved my post about finding time to read as a mom. It was fun to write. I think I need to add to my book blogging 101 posts. Maybe about how reading books has influenced the type of mom I’ve become? I’m not sure but I will come up with some good ideas.
I made up a few boxes to send to some friends and family this weekend. Nothing big, but I wanted to give a little something special to a few people. I’ll be sending them tomorrow, hopefully. Well, how about we hear about another great book I’m excited to read?
Today we have another book that I am really looking forward to reading! Let’s see…

Simon Ings’ The Smoke is about love, loss and loneliness in an incomprehensible world.
Simon Ings’ THE SMOKE is about love, loss and loneliness in an incomprehensible world.
Humanity has been split into three different species. Mutual incomprehension has fractured the globe. As humans race to be the first of their kind to reach the stars, another Great War looms.
For you, that means returning to Yorkshire and the town of your birth, where factories churn out the parts for gigantic spaceships. You’re done with the pretentions of the capital and its unfathomable architecture. You’re done with the people of the Bund, their easy superiority and unstoppable spread throughout the city of London and beyond. You’re done with Georgy Chernoy and his questionable defeat of death. You’re done with his daughter, Fel, and losing all the time. You’re done with love.
But soon enough you will find yourself in the Smoke again, drawn back to the life you thought you’d left behind.
You’re done with love. But love’s not done with you.
Well, what do you think? I think this might be an interesting book and I am excited to give it a chance. I want to thank Titan Books for sending me a free copy to review. This is on my list of books to read in the next few months and I cannot wait to pick it up. I really like how the summary addresses the reader as if they are a part of the story as well. Pulling them in to this tale of love and loss.
I’ve read a few of the current reviews and some readers found it confusing but I hope that I can navigate the story with ease. Some state that this novel is enjoyable and compelling, it might even need a second read through to fully appreciate it. Have you read this book or anything else written by Simon Ings?
