Hello again everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I spent some wonderful time in the woods clearing trails and trimming branches. I love being in the woods. It is so peaceful and I can be so close to nature. When there, all my stress melts away as I listen to the sounds of the animals around me. My older son was with his dad this weekend and decided he wants to dress up as a character from Halo, such a fun game. He came home with an energy sword…I want to battle him now…is that bad? Too childish? I always say you will lead a miserable life if you ever fully lose your inner child. My now 2-year-old, when asked what he wants to be for Halloween, replies… “ghoss” He will be the cutest little ghost ever. He has recently really been into a show my older son once was, Team Umizoomi. I will not get into details, this is a book blog after all, not a parenting blog…though that might be a good future idea.
Well, it is Monday and I know why you are all really here…Goodreads Monday! So…less about parent life and more about books! This weekly event is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners. To take part, simply choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR (To Be Read) list and show it off.
Now onto the good part, yet another book from my Goodreads to read shelf…which is always growing larger with each Goodreads Monday post that I read. I am serious, every Monday my TBR list grows by about 5 books. Why are there so many great books and so little reading time?

The son of undocumented immigrants, Noam has spent his life fighting for the rights of refugees fleeing magical outbreaks—refugees Carolinia routinely deports with vicious efficiency. Sensing a way to make change, Noam accepts the minister’s offer to teach him the science behind his magic, secretly planning to use it against the government. But then he meets the minister’s son—cruel, dangerous, and achingly beautiful—and the way forward becomes less clear.
Caught between his purpose and his heart, Noam must decide who he can trust and how far he’s willing to go in pursuit of the greater good.
I have read books that take place after the world is destroyed, but usually by war or bombs…not magic! This…this is something I would love to read. I cannot believe I have to wait until March of next year to read it.
Is this a book that you might enjoy if you have not read it? Have you heard of this novel before now? Do you have a hard time waiting so long for books you know you will love? What are some books on your Goodreads to-read list? Do you find yourself adding many more to your TBR list on Goodreads Monday?
