fThank you so much to Amy (A Court of Crowns and Quills) and Sarah (The Clever Reader) for tagging me. I know it has been a long time since I was tagged, but you know…life. This is a nice change of pace and I had so much fun doing it. I hope that you all enjoy!
1. How many books is too many books in a book series?
Personally, I think it depends on the series. There are somewhere after one or two books the story dies down and becomes dull where others could go for 13 books. It depends on the storyline and author’s talent.
My one pet peeve about a series though…cover changes. I like a series to have matching covers. I really despise ones that change the cover design halfway through.
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?
I can handle cliffhangers. I admit I hate having to wait a year or more for the next book though.
But, I am a very patient person. Sometimes if there is a huge cliffhanger, I just sit and stare into space for a while trying to compose my thoughts.
3. Hardback or paperback?
I read both but prefer hardback. I do not like the delicacy of paperback books. The covers bend, spine breaks, etc. I prefer my books in better condition than that. The weight difference is noted, but I love the feeling of a hardcopy book in my hands.
4. Favorite book?
This is such an unfair question. I read so many books that it is really hard to pick just one. I suppose I really enjoyed The City of Dreaming Books. This novel takes place in Bookholm, an entire city designed around books and filled with bookish creatures! Any book lover would enjoy this novel.
5. Least favorite book?
I am unsure I have a specific least favorite novel. If I am only considering books that I read this year, I suppose I would have to say Darker. This novel to me just retold the same scenes as Fifty Shades Darker. Some scenes seemed as if they were quoted word for word. I felt it did not bring enough new material from Christian’s point of view to be considered an entirely new novel.
6. Love triangles, yes or no?
It has to be done properly. It is possible to be done very well and enjoyable, but that is not always seen.
7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
I am proud to say none! I have yet to not finish a book. I feel bad for not finishing so I always push through. I will have to learn to put one down that I do not enjoy. It could be wasting valuable reading time.
8. A book you’re currently reading?
I am reading two books at the moment.
Kiss of the Royal is a book that I am starting to read today for a book blog tour I am a part of. Follow the blog tour by the Fantastic Flying Book Club here. My stop on this tour is July 5th. I will be providing a review along with my favorite quotes. Be sure to stop in and see what I think of this novel. Kiss of the Royal will be released July 3rd.
The Book of Peril is the second book in the Last Oracle series. I reviewed the first book The Book of Secrets previously. This book will be released on July 3rd as well.
9. Last book you recommended to someone?
The last book I recommended to someone was Asrian Skies. This was a fantastic Sci-Fi novel and I had the honor of reading the sequel Unbroken Fire as well. Anne Wheeler is a talented author and I reccomend her work to anyone who loves a sci-fi not based on character romance.
10. Oldest book you’ve read? (Publication date)
I think the oldest book I read was really a screenplay, King Leer. I enjoyed a lot of Shakespeare when I was younger…I actually still do enjoy it. I’ve read some Edgar Allen Poe as well. Other than poetry or screenplays, I think the oldest book that I have read is A Christmas Carol.
11. Newest book you’ve read? (Publication date)
I think besides ARCs, the newest novel I have read was Nyxia. I really loved that novel too, see what I thought here.
12. Favorite author?
I hate this question as well…it feels so unfair because I always feel I am not doing some authors justice. For the sake of this post, I will mention the author I have loved and read since I was a young child…Stephen King. I love his work, it shows me that although there are people and monsters much worse that what I have seen. Life could always be worse than it is.
13. Buying books or borrowing books?
I love both…is it cheating to say that? I love collecting books, but I lack the funds to do so much of the time. I also love supporting the underused, amazing resource called the Library. Growing up I only used the library, it was my safe haven.
14. A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
The Twilight series. I was not a fan of sparkling vampires, I just couldn’t get into it.
15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?
Is this even a question…? If you dog-ear…I am displeased.
I use bookmarks or anything close that I can use as a bookmark. I have used money, card, clothing tags, receipts, anything that is on hand that will hold my place.
16. A book you can always reread?
I am going to be cliche here…The Harry Potter series. My older son is now seven and I plan on reading the series with him! I know he loves the movies, but the books are always better.
17. Can you read while hearing music?
I can, but I often tune out. If I listen to music while reading it is classical because if not, I end up singing or dancing along and get distracted.
18. One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV’s = Point of views)
I enjoy both, but I feel multiple POVs provide more depth to the story. It allows the reader to connect better with each character, to know what they are thinking and feeling. That being said, it is not always done well. Sometimes there is no indication of which POV you are reading from and it can be really confusing.
19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
Depends on the book. I have read a book within a few hours or even taken weeks to finish. It is really determined by how much of a hold the books has on me and what kind of time I have to read. Often with two boys, I read in whatever chunks I have alone and quiet.
20. A book you’ve read because of the cover?
I pick a book up for the cover but never read a book simply because of the cover. I read the description and a few pages first and that determines if I will read the book or not.

As you husband I could have given these responses word for word but I always enjoy reading your posts. I have a couple things I would like to add to this post. If anyone dog ears a book they should be arrested and charged with high treason as we cant be friends lol. As for the POV question if you really enjoy multiple POV’s that are done extremely well look up Robert Jordan’s “Dragon Reborn” series. It has like a billion books so you can get lost in his world for a long time. *I prefer log series as I always feel like i am losing friends when a series comes to an end.* He can get a little long winded in the detail department but you will not mind because the story itself will make you want to push through these parts just to get back to the action.
P.S Stephen King is a great writer but he is a bum lol that is all 🙂
