Bigfoot Abomination…not your average bigfoot tale.

Bigfoot Abomination…not your average bigfoot tale.

In the future, Earth has been invaded by an alien race, the skinks. The alien race has genetically modified humans, creating a new hybrid species known as the nu-man. The nu-man have been attempting to find a way to recreate the human race. With little luck, the rebel group of nu-man change their plan of action. They will fight and use the new time machine created by the skinks to travel back in time and prevent them from finding Earth in the first place.

While the nu-man were fighting to travel back in time to prevent the extinction of the human race, Cole rainwater was finding his life was about to change. He is not the average high school freshman. Cole believes in the paranormal…aliens and bigfoot. This fascination for the unusual makes him a target for school bullies, not the type of person likely to gain the affections of the most beautiful girl in the school. All that changes when Charlotte disappears and Cole has a “feeling” of where she might be. He and Charlotte’s ex boyfriend, Brennon, go out on their own mission to attempt to find and save her.

Two action filled story lines eventually meet. Both the fate of Charlotte and the human race as a whole are at risk. Will both the nu-man and Cole succeed in their missions?

I like to include an assessment of the book cover into each of my reviews. The book cover is what initially catches the eye of the reader, for many it is a deciding factor when choosing to pick up the book. This novel depicts a Nu-Man, a character in the book that has been genetically modified by another race. He is shown in the forest with a light shinning down. I would like to share what I feel this light depicts, but do not want to give away any twist of events within the story.

This is an book filled to the brim with action and adventure. What more could you ask for in a Sci-Fi book? This book takes an entirely new twist on the tales of bigfoot and does not disappoint. Dane made it very clear when each chapter was taking place by noting either future or present under the chapter number. I appreciate this, as sometimes it can be confusing if not annotated properly.

Dane uses great detail. He describes the nu-man and skink with such precision that I was able to picture them as if they were real beings within my world. Each character was well developed. I appreciated that there was not a character dump, information regarding each person was given at the appropriate time. This prevents confusion and aids in the overall building of the character background. For me, Cole was my favorite character. This is simply because he grows so much through the book and I can relate to him. I was a girl who never fit in, a member of a misfit group of student sin high school.

Detail and great characters were not the only positives about this book. The plot drives the readers’ interest. There are typical rest points, but the action within makes you want to continue reading without pause. My favorite part about this book is that there are two distinct story lines int he beginning, but you see them come together. Little by little, pieces fall into place. I had those “ah ha” moments when i realized why it was pertinent that Cole believed in the paranormal. The only thing I did not like…was that not I have to add another book to my to read list. I look forward to reading the sequel of this novel.

If you are looking for a twist on a typical sci-fi novel or even just a fast paced, action packed book…this book would be a wonderful choice. You can get this book for free on kindle unlimited. I have included the link to the book below.
