Goodreads Monday

Goodreads Monday

Hello again everyone! How was your weekend? I claimed my official NaNoWriMo win and am super proud of myself. I managed to write more than the 50K goal. For my debut novel, that is exciting. I apologize if you are all sick of me telling you that already but it is a huge accomplishment. Did you participate in NaNoWriMo this year? If so, how did you do?

On to other things, my children were ecstatic to find snow outside. My seven year old even wanted to play outside once the sunset but we have skunks around where we live that get really bad in the spring and fall/winter. I learned the hard way when my in-law’s dog was sprayed while outside and I spent the evening in the shower washing him down. Anyway, both boys loved playing in the snow. My two-year-old was eating the snow and saying “mmm.” Though they instigate one another and can be a pain, my boys always make me smile.

Well, it is Monday and I know why you are all really here…Goodreads Monday! So…less about parent life and more about books! This weekly event is hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners. To take part, simply choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR (To Be Read) list and show it off.

Now onto the good part, yet another book from my Goodreads to read shelf…which is always growing larger with each Goodreads Monday post that I read. I am serious, every Monday my TBR list grows by about 5 books. Why are there so many great books and so little reading time?

The Valiant was supposed to save us. Instead, it triggered the end of the world.

Earth is in shambles. Everyone, even the poorest among us, invested in the Valiant’s space mining mission in the hopes we’d be saved from ourselves. But the second the ship leaves Earth’s atmosphere, our fate is sealed. The alien invasion begins. They pour into cities around the world through time portals, possessing humans, forcing us to kill one another.

And for whatever reason, my brother is their number one target.

Now the fate of the world lies in the hands of me, a seventeen-year-old girl, but with the help of my best friend, Justin―who’s suddenly starting to feel like more―maybe if we save my brother, we can save us all…

This book had me hooked after the first line of the summary. That…is exactly how you get a reader to pick up your book. Alien invasion? Count me in! This is a book I think I must read, wait a minute while I add it to my 2019 TBR…ok done! Now, you should do the same.
